Mining: TEREX SHM

Retractable Video Camera Reveals The Previously Unseen.

It’s bringing highwall mining to a whole new light.

Unlike moles and other sightless creatures, man depends on vision to function at his best. Thus, SHM’s latest innovation, an underground video camera, will be welcomed by highwall miner operators who, until now, have been working blind.  During normal mining operations, the new camera is retracted into the cutterhead module body for protection. When needed, it can be raised hydraulically. The package includes flood lights to illuminate the viewing area and a wide-angle camera that provides a 170° viewing radius.

Using it, operators can observe underground conditions. They’ll be able to see if they’ve crossed into another cut, detect settling of pillars, note whether cutter chains are intact, and determine the cause of problems. This new camera can be added to any low-profile cutterhead module.  Ask about it for your operation today.
