New CNC Torch- Improves Production Efficiency
Until recently, Terex SHM looked to outside sources for the cut-steel pieces used in manufacturing its miners. With the recent purchase of a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) torch, however, the company now produces those parts in-house, improving production efficiency. The advantage of a CNC torch is that it can cut parts directly from a computer program rather than a paper pattern. “We can cut a whole plate with one setup,” explained Duane Barker, machine center supervisor, “and the cuts are more accurate.” By speeding up production and providing greater quality control, the new CNC torch saves both time and money. “That's good for us and for our customers,” Barker concluded.
